Our Beginner Driver Education (BDE) Course is the perfect place for new drivers to start their journey toward becoming competent, safe and responsible drivers.
The Ministry of Transportation of Ontario (MTO) recognizes that a
Beginner Driver Education (BDE) program is a key component of road safety.
Why Choose Our BDE Course?

Professional, reliable, experienced and passionate about teaching new drivers
The Omni-Lateral Driver Education Centre Inc. is an MTO-approved BDE course provider. We strive to assist new students in becoming responsible, competent and safe drivers.
Key Features:
- MTO-approved BDE course provider: The MTO requires a minimum of 40 instructional hours: 20 hours of “classroom”/theory instruction, 10 hours of Homelinks/homework, and 10 hours of in-vehicle training. Successful completion: allows students to take their G2 road test 8 months after they receive their G1 (rather than 1 year); and is recognized by participating auto insurance companies.
- Flexible Scheduling: The 20 hours of theory and the 10 hours of homework are offered via self-paced eLearning, using the MTO-approved Digital Driver Education online curriculum. The 10 hours of driving lessons are arranged at the student’s convenience, keeping in mind the importance of varying times of day to experience different traffic patterns and light conditions.
- Experienced Instructors: All our instructors are provincially licensed and receive further intensive training in the Omni-Lateral system. They are patient and committed to helping their students learn.
- Student Support: As per MTO regulations, students are required to complete the BDE course (both the online and in-vehicle components) within one year from the date that they login to the eLearning component. We care about our students and encourage them to contact us with any questions along the way.
- Competitive Pricing & Flexible Payment Options: Our course fees are well within the range of market pricing. We accept credit and debit. We also offer a split-payment option.
How It Works
Your BDE Course Steps
Step 1: Register
Use our registration form to sign up for your BDE Course. Once we register you, confirmation and the eLearning login instructions will arrive by email.
Step 2: eLearning
Simply login to the eLearning portal and begin learning at your own pace.
Step 3: Get Behind the Wheel
Once you have completed 75% of your eLearning, it is time to drive! Simply contact us and we will work with you to schedule in-vehicle lessons at times that are best for you. Your driving instructor will guide you through all the essentials, including maneuvers, road test preparation and, most importantly, collision avoidance.
Step 4: Complete your Training
Successfully complete the entire eLearning course and all 10 hours of in-vehicle instruction, within one year, and we will do the rest! We will electronically certify you with the MTO, and Service Ontario will subsequently update your driver’s licence history (DLH) to show successful completion of the BDE course. Your DLH is what participating auto insurance companies require as proof of course completion.
